The Drivebychicken project is a website for the sole purpose of publishing some of my – John Bullock – scrawl. That is; short stories, vignette’s, random dialogues or scene ideas.
You may be asking, “why?”. More likely, however, you are asking, “why do I care?” Well, you probably don’t care. The reason for this site, however, is that it is my – John Bullock – ambition to become an author and write fiction for a living. I am well aware that the odds of me making a career from writing fiction are slim, but one of the good things about writing is that it is something you can pursue outside of your day job.
One thing I have frequently heard, is that aspiring writers should write every day, and it makes sense. I do not intend to publish something on here every day, but I hope to write something every day, and if I’m not writing anything else, I will write something on here.
So why am I going to make available for scorn my unpolished, off the cuff attempts at literature? Feedback, hopefully. It isn’t enough that I write every single day in order to improve, I also need to be aware of my flaws, and I encourage any and all who feel they have some (constructive) criticism about my work to post and let me know.
Oh, and why Drivebychicken? I had the domain already (the result of a drunken conversation) and thought I’d use it for something half worthwhile.
