So, with the pilot episode done and dusted, we decided to have another go with all the hosts…

Except Karl couldn’t make it, so this week, it’s just John, Jon (Kam) and Caleb.

What We Should Be Playing

We kick off our first officially numbered show with a discussion on the games we should be playing. If, like us, you have a tendency to buy games on impulse, you might have forked over the £40/$60 for an interesting title, only to have it sat there on your pile of shame, barely (if at all) played. These are our’s.

2011 First Quarter Releases – Part Two

Continuing on from the pilot episode, we cover some more of the new releases to expect in the first quarter of 2011 (that’s this year). We cover Test Drive Unlimited 2, kind of, Bulletstorm, Homefront, Pokemon White/Black, Shogun 2, Crysis 2, and Dynasty Warriors 7, because Kam insisted.

Freestylin’

So, we decided to have a segment where we basically talked for a little while, without really planning anything. Yes, believe it or not, the other segments have some planning behind them. The topic we went with was under-represented aspects in games, which could be game mechanics, stories, ethnic minorities, etc. As you might expect, the conversation did stray onto the other subjects from time to time, but it’s all good.

It turns out that Jon’s Borderlands’ YouTube video had a slight technical hitch with the audio, so it’s not live at the time of this podcast, however Jon insists that it will be up, eventually. When it is, you can find it at VWFKamikaze on YouTube. Caleb’s only ongoing project is this, so keep your eyes out for the next podcast, and I’m putting my Twitter account out there in the narcissistic hope of getting followers.

Welcome to the first edition of Insert Game Here, another podcast about gaming.

In this, our first show, a minor technical difficulty caused problems with the recording process. That problem was that the host, John Bullock, also known as me, was not recorded. In the places where I spoke, only silence could be heard. This, you may think, is a big problem.

Not so!

You see, we recorded nearly two hours of material, so, in an effort to make up for my lack of technical abilities (read: the ability to press record) I have put together a podcast using only the conversations between Jonathan (aka Kam), Caleb and Carl. There are times where a conversation may seem to change course a bit abruptly, which will most likely be down to me having to edit my silences out, but, on the whole, I think it turned out well.

I choose to believe that this is because of my superior editing ability.

On the show, we cover What We’ve Been Playing, because all gaming podcasts do, and have a brief discussion on EA Online Pass’s.

Our main feature is a look at some of the games due to be released in the first quarter of 2011; Dead Space 2, Killzone 3, Dragon Age 2, Top Spin 4, Portal 2, Twisted Metal, Yakuza 4 and Duke Nukem Forever.

We finish up with a discussion on piracy, specifically the PS3 jailbreaking fiasco, as well as each choosing something we would like to burn!
